Worldwide Global Internal Audit Standards 5 Domains These standards are grouped into five essential domains, each designed to strengthen and support the internal audit function. Domain One Purpose of Internal Auditing. Internal auditing strengthens an organization's ability to create, protect, and sustain value. How? By providing the Board and management with independent, risk based and objective assurance, advice, insight, and foresight. Auditors play a crucial role in safeguarding an organization's value, ensuring that all operations align with strategic goals and risk management. Domain 2. Ethics and Professionalism. This domain emphasizes the importance of auditors conducting themselves ethically, aligning with the organization's expectations and ethical culture. Ethical behaviour is at the heart of auditing, ensuring trust and integrity in all audit activities. Domain 3. Governing the Internal Audit Function. This domain covers the relationship between the Chief Audit Executive, the Board, and senior management in governing the internal audit function. Effective governance ensures that the internal audit function operates smoothly and aligns with the organization's strategic direction. Domain 4. Managing the Internal Audit Function. These standards cover strategic planning by the Chief Audit Executive. Resource management, effective communication with stakeholders, and enhancing the quality of the internal audit function. Effective management ensures that the internal audit function is dynamic, resourceful, and consistently delivering high quality audits. Domain 5. Performing Internal Audit Services. This domain focuses on engagement planning, field work, developing and reporting findings, creating recommendations and action plans, and following up on management's corrective actions.
