Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and three-time MLA Baba Siddique who was shot dead late Saturday will receive a state funeral on Sunday night. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde ordered for it as he has served as a minister in the Maharashtra Cabinet from 2004 to 2008. Meanwhile, the Mumbai police have confirmed the involvement of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Siddique’s killing. Despite Y-level category security, he was shot dead by three assailants, ahead of the Assembly elections which are expected to be held in November. Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap were presented in Killa court this evening, with Singh remanded in police custody until October 21. Due to confusion over Kashyap’s age, the court ordered an ossification test before he was produced before the court again. Two more people, identified as Shivkumar Gautam and Mohamed Zeeshan Akhtar, are wanted in the case. While Gautam was one of the three shooters in Bandra, Akhtar is believed to have received the contract to murder Siddique.
