Spanish Colonial Era to American Occupation

Let’s begin in the late 1800s during the Spanish colonial era. Science was still in its infancy, mostly in the hands of Spanish scholars. The Philippines saw the establishment of the Jardin Botanico, a botanical garden that opened doors to scientific inquiry.And then, with the American occupation in the early 1900s, the Bureau of Science was created. This institution marked the start of a formal research agenda in the Philippines, focusing on agriculture, natural resources, and public health.
